What Is AFCAT:

AFCAT stands for Air Force Common Admission Test is a written exam conducted by Indian Air Force twice every year to induct officers in the IAF.

AFCAT Eligibility criteria 2017:

All the Indian Citizen (men and women) are being invited to join AFCAT Indian Air Force course commencing in July 2017 for grant of Short Service Commission in Flying Branch and Permanent / Short Service Commission in Technical and Ground Duty Branches.

AFCAT Age Limit Eligibility Criteria 2017:

AFCAT Flying Branch AGE LIMIT Eligibility Criteria 2017  (Men & Women):

  • 20 to 24 years as on 01 Jan 2018 i.e. Born between 02 Jan 1995 to 01 Jan 1998 (both dates inclusive)
  • Upper age limit for Candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot is relaxable upto 26 years.

AFCAT Technical Branch AGE LIMIT Eligibility Criteria 2016  (Men & Women):

  • 20 to 26 years as on 01 Jan 2018 i.e. born between 02 Jan 1992 to 01 Jan 1998 (both dates inclusive).

AFCAT Ground Duty Branch (GDOC) AGE LIMIT Eligibility Criteria 2016  (Men & Women):

  • 20 to 26 year as on 01 Jan 2018 i.e. born between 02 Jan 1992 to 01 Jan 1998 (both dates inclusive).

AFCAT Educational Qualifications Eligibility Criteria 2017:

AFCAT Flying Branch Educational Qualifications Eligibility Criteria 2017  (Men & Women):

  • Graduates (Min 3 three year degree course) in any discipline from a recognized University
  • Minimum 60% marks in 10+2 Maths and Physics.
  • Minimum 60% marks in graduation.

AFCAT Technical Branch Educational Qualifications Eligibility Criteria 2017  (Men & Women):

  • Candidates would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognized University or cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies.
  • Minimum 60% marks in 10+2 Maths and Physics.
  • Minimum 60% marks in graduation.

AFCAT Ground Duty Branch Educational Qualifications Eligibility Criteria 2017  (Men & Women):

  • Administration & Logistics Branch: Graduate Degree (Minimum three year degree course) in any discipline with a minimum of 60%marks in aggregate of all papers put together.
  • Accounts Branch: B. Com. degree (Minimum three year degree course) from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
  • Education Branch: Post Graduate Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together.

AFCAT 1 Physical Fitness Standards Eligibility Criteria 2017:

AFCAT Flying Branch Physical Standards Eligibility Criteria 2017 (Men & Women):

  • Height and Weight:
    • Minimum height : 162.5 cms with correlated weight, Leg Length : Min – 99 cms.
      Max – 120 cms. Thigh Length : Max – 64 cms. Sitting Height : Min – 81.5 cms. Max – 96 cms.
  • Vision:
    • Minimum Visual Acuity 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other, correctable to 6/6 only for hypermetropia.
    • Manifest Myopia – Nil.
    • LASIK Surgery for correction of vision is admissible in Transport and Helicopter streams of Short Service Commission (Flying Branch) in special cases.
  • All other medical criteria would be evaluated by the Air Force Medical Authorities whose decision on
    the fitness would be final

AFCAT 2017 Exam Pattern:

One common test of 100 questions, to be solved by all candidates in 2 hours. Technical Branch candidates have an addition test of EKT, both tests are objective. Successful candidates get a chance to appear for AFSB, and recommended candidates can be called for training based on their rank in the merit list and subject to medical fitness.
